Mrs Wells bought a Butterfly Garden for her granddaughters. The caterpillars came dormant in a small tub. After 48 hrs they started to move and over the next few weeks they grew bigger and bigger in the tub making their way to the top and formed into chrysalis. After a few days when the chrysalis had hardened we had to gently take the lid off and transfer the stand into the butterfly house. After just over two weeks the Painted Ladies started hatching. They had to flap their wings to remove all the liquid and to get their wings strong. Once they were flying around the butterfly house we fed them bananas and oranges. After two days we released them into the garden where they eventually flew off. We received 5 caterpillars and all 5 hatched into 5 painted ladies.
